Dhalkut

Dhalkut is the westernmost wilayat of Dhofar Governorate, roughly 150 kilometres from Salalah near the border with Yemen, reached by a scenic two to two and a half hour mountain drive. Here the Al Qamar mountains meet the Arabian Sea along a wide sandy shore, home to a rare baobab tree known locally as Hiroum Dheeri and to the wreckage of an aircraft partly buried on the beach. During the khareef monsoon from June to September, seasonal rains turn its hills lush and green.
