Sur, E- A'SharqiyahPlaces
The outdoor season starts in 23 days.
Khor Al Bateh is the natural harbour where Sur's shipwrights have built wooden dhows for more than five hundred years. From the sixteenth century Sur grew into one of the region's great dhow building centres, producing sturdy cargo baggalas and fast ghanjah ships that sailed the Arabian Gulf and Indian Ocean, some reaching as far as China. Boats are still built here entirely by hand today.
