Home to Harat Al Bilad, one of Oman's oldest archaeological quarters, dating back more than nine centuries. The fortified old town holds four historic mosques, around 376 traditional houses, and close to 250 wells, all enclosed by a stone and mud brick wall with four gateways and two watchtowers.
