An Iron Age necropolis in Al Sharqiyah, excavated over nearly two decades by German archaeological teams who documented around 260 graves spanning the Bronze Age to the Late Iron Age. The site gave its name to the Samad Late Iron Age, the defining period for this part of Oman's pre-Islamic past. Signage is limited: read up before visiting.
