Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve, protected by royal decree since 1996 for its endangered green turtle nesting grounds. The Scientific and Turtle Centre, opened in 2008, sits near the easternmost tip of the Arabian Peninsula, about 40 minutes from Sur.
