A relaxed Muscat itinerary for families
Have one day? Choose Old Muscat and Mutrah. With a second day, add a lighter coastal outing. This is a suggested outline, not a booked tour.
Day 1
Old Muscat and Mutrah
Start with the National Museum opposite Al Alam Palace, then take a meal break before moving to Mutrah. Choose a short corniche walk and a browse through Mutrah Souq; you do not need to fit in every fort. Keep the outdoor part flexible if it is hot or the children need a rest.
Day 2
Keep Qurum unhurried
Make Qurum Beach and its promenade a separate, lighter outing, with time for a meal nearby. On a hot day, shorten the outdoor stop rather than adding a long drive. This is a coastal visit suggestion, not confirmation that swimming conditions are suitable.

Getting between stops
Plan a car or taxi transfer between Old Muscat, Mutrah and Qurum rather than treating them as one continuous walk. Check the route from your accommodation, allow for parking and arrange suitable child seats. Keep lunch and rest time in the plan; no driving times are guaranteed here.
Museum hours and family tickets
At the source review, the National Museum lists daily opening from 10:00 to 17:00, with the ticket desk closing at 16:30. Adult fees differ for Omani/GCC citizens, residents and tourists. Children under six are among the free-entry groups. Check the current rules, required ID and payment method before visiting.
